Empire Cinema and Anton Friisgaard is presenting Teratai Åkande, Antons brand new album which Boomkat an 'Enchanting electro-acoustic transformations of Gamelan'.

Boomkat writes
"In key with Gamelan music's ritualist intent and effect to make the listener transcend worlds, the results of 'Teratai Åkande' can be heard to occupy a space between dimensions of tradition and modernity, wrinkling time and space to settle on the 3rd eye in a sort of new age ambient context carried over from Friisgaard's work as Hviledag and release for likes of Janushoved and VAKNAR.

From this place out of time, Friisgaard contours and dematerialises the instruments' resonant overtones and rhythmelodic pulses with a dreamier quality and artistic license that yields nuanced, alternative perspectives on their putative conventions, pulling them closer to the aesthetics previously explored by CPH's Efterklang and the likes of Asa-Chang & Junky's sublime electronica classics for Leaf, with a frisson of Nordic melancholia he can call his own."

Teratai Åkande, features balinese musicians Pande Made Gangga Sentana, I Nyoman Suwida, Dewa Badukz, Suryana Putra and Galung Awan and the album is mixed in surround sound in collaboration with Martin Cederholm Lindum at Tonestyrelsen Studios. The album is released on Stroom, august 2024.
