Bat Walk by Damhussøen

Much activity is happening from dusk to the break of dawn. This is the time when the bats come out and hunt for insects. It seems quiet but in the ultrasonic landscape the screams are loud and happening rapidly.

If you are attentive you will see fast shadows appearing here and there. Soon, you will know how and where to spot the creatures of the night.
Linh will guide you through a performative walk where she will hand out scores of attentiveness. Together with others, you let yourself immerse in the land of the bats.

Who can participate? This workshop series is open to everyone. We ask that children are accompanied by an adult carer. There is a maximum number of participants per workshop, we therefore ask the you RSVP in good time to secure a space.
Meeting place: We will meet on the corner of Damhussøen / Roskildevej by The Old Irish Pub at 19.00. Look for a bat flag.
Please note: This event is weather dependent. If it is very windy or rainy there will be no bats and therefore the walk will be canceled.
Accessibility: Public toilets are located on the lake route. The walking route surface is mostly even consisting of asphalt and shorter sections are packed with gravel.
Can I participate in more than one workshop? Yes! Feel free to participate in 1, 3, or 5!
Who will facilitate the workshops? Artist, long-eared-bat ambassador and climate activist Linh Le. You can read more about her in her bio below.
Language: English / Danish - depending on needs of the group.

Much of the methods and knowledge about bats that will be explored during this workshop series come from Linh Le's participation in the CopenhAustin residency and as a volunteer at Austin Bat Refuge

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Linh Le is a performance artist and climate activist. She is also the ambassador of the long-eared bat and part of the performance climate activist collective Becoming Species. Linh spends her time exploring nature, different species and making collective spaces for reflection and action. Besides that, she is also studying NVDA - non-violent direct action and the different strategies to confront injustices and create change.
Playing and exploring with community and other species are at the core of Linh's practice.
Linh will share her methods in exploring bats which have been developed during her one-month CopenhAustin residency by WH9 and MoHA.https://linhle.dk/ @linhle_explorer.
