By Copenhagen Collective A brand new show by a hot and new company. We live in a time seemingly full of strife, conflict and division. Us against them, people against people, nations against nations, cultures against cultures.
Human life as a zero-sum game where someone's gain can only be achieved through someone else's loss. We believe there is another way. A way where our capacity of love and care is stronger than our animosity, our capacity of understanding and compassion more resilient than our divisions and our differences are celebrated and become our strength. 20 individuals from different nations and cultures (Denmark, Australia, Peru, Canada, UK, Uruguay, Finland, Spain, Chile, Portugal, USA, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, France) have come together to form Copenhagen Collective, a brand new acrobatic collective in Copenhagen. Their first production - The Genesis - talks about how we all relate to each other and how we are intrinsically dependent on each other. The stage is an empty space. The artists are the show. We follow the 20 acrobats as they move through an abstract emotional landscape. The eventual acceptance of the need of the Other brings jubilation as we discover and experience the fact that as humans, there is little that one person can do by themselves alone. Light design is a cross between a mystic cathedral feeling and club nightlife, that encompass and embrace the performers. The original music is a continuous soundscape where we encounter the classical violin, piano and other acoustic instruments, voice in song or recitation, embedded in jazz and rhythm'n blues couched in club themed moments. The Genesis will premiere on July 4th 2024 at Baltoppen LIVE in Ballerup, near Copenhagen and will then continue to tour. Entrence fee: 250 DKK - Standard 150 DKK - All under the age of 25 years.
