Awkward is an immersive performance dinner in which the audience explores social interactions through a sensory exploration of food. You will be invited to join a table of abundance, choose and savour the food based on your memories and experiences.
What if the texture of a pear reminded you of your grandmother?s soft cheek? You taste, grab and smell. Sour, sweet, bitter. You explore texture, consistency and shape. Your emotional connection, here, becomes an enhanced relationship with food. What if you were to be asked to feed your neighbour? What if, as you are relishing smells and tastes, you noticed someone is having a different experience?. Awkward is the first installment of The Same Table, a large colourful sculpture with real food that people will explore via in-ear instructions. The audience is invited to reach into the abundance: choose with their senses and find a deep connection with the food on our table and the people next to us. But. Awkward is also about ?how? we enjoy or consume food. About how it can be difficult or embarrassing to show up for convivial moments in our community. How both our food and our relationships are connected to our mental health. Metaphorically, the table represents our resources. As we all sit at the same table, even our seats reveal our comfort or lack of it. Will we be able to sit at The Same Table and make sure all can partake in the same abundance? That is for the audience to choose. The Same Table lingers in the room as a sculpture. Awkward is a performance piece that will take place once a day. Duration: 40 minutes. Language: English/Danish (French, Spanish, and Italian are available upon request). Where: Literaturhaus, Møllegade 7, 2200 København. When: 10-15 February 2025. Credits: Artists / Concept and Direction: Delia Trice, Miriam Röstlinger Goldkuhl. Chef: Alem Gebrehewot (ph. Bee Bee). With: Jaqueline Mortensen and Daniel G. Muniz. Sound Design: TBA. Lights and Setup: Literaturhaus.
