Save the date for a special evening of poetry, music, and resilience as we mark the third anniversary of Ukraine's resistance against Russia's full-scale invasion.
This is the third in a series of events that elevates the voices of the oppressed, the wounded, and the struggling Ukrainian authors at a time when Ukrainian culture is once again existentially threatened.
VOICES OF DIGNITY: DEFENDING UKRAINE
Date: February 24, 2025
Time: 17:30-19:30
Location: Ukraine House in Denmark, Strandgade 27B, 1401 Copenhagen
The event is organised by Ukraine House in Denmark and Danish Cultural Institute.
Join us for an evening featuring:
Maksym Butkevych, human rights activist and journalist, member of PEN Ukraine, recently exchanged Ukrainian POW
Yaryna Chornohuz, Marine Corps servicewoman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and poet, and Artur Dron, acclaimed poet and a Ukrainian soldier recovering from his wounds, sharing with us their heartfelt poetry grounded and inspired by their lived experiences of the brutal frontline. In Danish, their poetry will be read by Danish soldiers and officials.
A unique musical performance of "Song of the Unborn" by Roman Grygoriv played on a repurposed Russian URAGAN MLRS missile and chamber music works of the leading Ukrainian by the "Kyiv Kamerata" National Soloists Ensemble
Two compelling exhibitions: a poetic poster collection honoring Ukrainian poets and a multimedia exhibition "The House of Light: Tribute to Polina Raiko" - our debut at the Copenhagen Light Festival, recreating the lost treasures of Polina Raiko's house, the temple of naïve art that was ruined when the Russian occupiers destroyed the Nova Kakhovka dam in the south of Ukraine in 2023.
The evening will conclude with wine and informal conversations with the artists and curators.
Program:
17:30 - Doors open
18:00 - Official program begins
19:30 - Evening concludes with networking and exhibitions' viewing
Your presence will help amplify Ukrainian voices that remain dignified in the face of ongoing aggression. While global attention may waver, our commitment to supporting Ukraine's cultural resistance remains steadfast.
