Visit The Hamlet - A window into the Viking world for the smallest museum guest

Travel 1000 years back in time to the everyday life of the Vikings in the Viking Ship Museum's new room for the youngest museum visitors

The Hamlet is located in the lower floor of the Viking Ship Hall and is a room tailored for children. Here, families with children and school pupils can dive into the Viking Age on their own terms

Back in the Viking age, people didn't live in big cities like today. Instead, they lived in small communities called hamlets.

Here, we encourage playing, trying, and touching everything.

In the Hamlet you can play with toys from the Viking Age, cook by the fireplace, pack the merchant's chest, or try jumping on a plank that has been split with an axe and feel the flexibility of the wood.

Facts about The Hamlet - a window to the Viking world:
  • The Hamlet is located on the lower floor of the Viking Ship Hall.
  • It is open every day during museum opening hours.
  • The Education Service of the Viking Ship Museum has first priority for use of the room.
