FESTAG stands for Festival des Arts de Guinée = Festival for Guinean Arts in Denmark. The event is based on the world-famous Guinean dance and music culture, with a goal to celebrate the fantastically rich West African cultural life with both local and invited professional artists on stage. Guinea is known for being the country where different musical styles and djembe rhythms have their base, spread over the country's four regions with different ethnic groups. These ethnic groups are spread far across Guinea's borders and thus represent large parts of West Africa: Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast... The event is therefore not specifically just Guinea - on the contrary, it is a celebration of the pan-African diaspora culture through African artists based in Europe and Denmark. The dream is an event that is open to everyone - an event that spreads good energy and knowledge of a culture that also exists here in Denmark - and you are invited to join!
