Brothers Sune and Andreas Gylling Æbelø have written the book The Lost Sons about growing up as gay under the watchful eye of the mission in the West Jutland Bible Belt.
It is about guilt and shame for not fitting in, abandonment, and attempts at so-called "healing" by Christian institutions and authorities that view love between men as a sin.
It is also a book about salvation, liberation, and reconciliation. About carrying a secret, finding each other as brothers, following one's heart, and becoming true to oneself and one's faith.
Sune Gylling Æbelø is a senior advisor and speechwriter at Landbrug & Fødevarer.
Andreas Gylling Æbelø is an independent management consultant and former director at the AIDS Foundation.
