Summer visit to Sandager Church

A local expert will talk about the church's history, its role in the community, and the religious life at the location, and refreshments will be served during the event

Already in the Viking Age, there was a wooden church in Sandager, which was replaced in the 1200s by a stone church. The church's baptismal font dates from the same period. The church has been rebuilt in both the 14th and 16th centuries. Near the chancel arch stands a Madonna figure from 1525, made by Claus Berg's workshop. The spire of the church tower served as a sea marker until 1920. Among the priests at the church was K.E. Løgstrup, who served in the parish from 1936-1943. It was the only pastoral position Løgstrup ever held. Subsequently, he became a professor of theology in Aarhus and one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century in Denmark
