On December 5, 2024, at 16:00, the Ukrainian House in Denmark starts its Christmas program with the enchanting exhibition: Malanka: The Dance of Death and Life, inspired by the critically acclaimed film Pamfir.
What is Malanka?
Malanka is an ancient New Year's Eve celebration rooted in Slavic mythology and agrarian customs. Named after Saint Melanie, it marks the darkest night of the year, when the line between worlds is thin. Traditionally celebrated with elaborate costumed processions, dancing and singing, Malanka is a carnival of light triumphing over darkness - a perfect prelude to the Christmas season.
