You are invited into the black box to meet the raw performing art in process.
This WORKSHARING is the culmination of a 2-weeks residency where Amina Szecsödy in collaboration with Aron Skoog examines performativity of social contracts, the ethics of mutual agreement and the constraints of legaslitive obligation
THE ARTISTIC RESEARCH
With this research the artists theatrically questions the `how, why and when` of establishing laws, rights and contracts. What order do these doctrinal cornerstones arise in? For example, if a right implies protection once a violation occurs, it only takes effect after the violation has been codified into law. This highlights one of many confusions within the enlightened ethical consciousness. The artists will research performative ruptures and escape routes within this contractual complexity.
In the process the artists look to cinematic montage as a choreographic theatrical tool, focusing on the concept of the split self (performers as performing mirrors). The characters will embody contradictory roles - informants, deceivers, comrades, and adversaries.
The aim is to prompt an urgent reflection on roles, perception, and authority in theatre and performance right now.
ABOUT THE ARTISTSAmina Szecsödy and Aron Skoog are interdisciplinary artists working across performance, visual arts, text, choreography, and film. Both share a practice rooted in the exploration of identity, narrative, and ambiguity, often using dynamic role shifts, fragmented characters, and layers of personal and cultural references to challenge conventional storytelling and spectatorship.
Their collaboration stems from a shared interest in destabilizing traditional performance structures and creating hybrid works that blur the boundaries between audience, performer, and medium. By combining their distinct yet complementary approaches, they aim to experiment with new compositional methods, particularly montage and fragmented narratives. They wish to use this residency as an opportunity to deepen their exploration of split identities, contrasting perspectives, and how performance can reflect social tensions.
TICKETSParticipation in the worksharing is free, but please book your ticket as seats are limited.
ABOUT THE RESIDENCYIN PROCESS is HAUT's 1-2 week long residency format that makes space for physical brainstorms supporting the investigation and the development of new ideas for the stage.
This group of artists have been invited into residency through the open call "IN PROCESS - SAMPLE", whose focus was to experiment with the collage as inspiration and challenge the hierarchies of performing art and turn process and genre upside down. The open call was curated in collaboration with Jules Fischer.
The residency is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, The Bikuben Foundation and The Municipality of Copenhagen.
