MEDEA

Tragedie. Aldersgruppe: Fra 16 år. Varighed: 90 min med pause.

Medea, a sorceress from the Black Sea region, runs away from her homeland to start a new life as Jason's wife in the city of Corinth. When Jason brutally betrays her with the young daughter of the local king, Medea, blinded by her pain, proceeds to commit what is considered the most hateful amongst crimes across all ages and geographies, namely, maternal filicide.

Greek tragedies deal with the extremities of human nature, mirroring what often remains suppressed. By presenting Medea, an anguished larger-than-life character to a contemporary audience, the production revives universal questions and themes such as motherhood, violent resistance, and vengeful jealousy from a fresh perspective
