//For English see below//. Den 27. januar er den internationale Holocaust-mindedag, som markeres i FN, EU, rundt omkring i Europa og andre steder i verden. På Auschwitz-dagen i Danmark mindes vi ofre for Holocaust og andre folkedrab.
I 2025 markeres 80-året for befrielsen af KZ-Auschwitz-Birkenau, en af de mest berygtede koncen-trationslejre oprettet under Anden Verdenskrig. Den 27. januar 1945 gik sovjetiske styrker ind i lejren og afslørede Holocausts gruopvækkende virkelighed. Denne dag markerede et afgørende vende-punkt, hvor verden for alvor begyndte at forstå det fulde omfang af de grusomheder, der var blevet begået af det nazistiske regime. Det er afgørende vigtigt at holde fast i erindringen om Holocaust ikke mindst i en tid, hvor de sidste vidner stille forsvinder og vi overtager ansvaret for at fortælle hi-storien og holde mindet i live for fremtidige generationer.
Programmet i år vil inkludere vidnesbyrd fra Holocaust og det bosniske folkedrab, oplæg fra Solvej Berlau, medforfatter til bogen "Vejen til folkedrab. Før, under og efter Holocaust", tale ved repræsentant fra den danske regering, ambassadører fra Polen, Israel og Storbritannien, samt musikindslag og en lystændingsceremoni. Arrangementet finder sted i Dronningesalen på Det Kongelige Bibliotek, Søren Kierkegaards Plads 1, 1221 København K, den 27. januar 2025 kl. 19.00 - 21.00.
Dørene åbnes 60 minutter før begivenheden, og det anbefales at ankomme tidligt af hensyn til praktiske forhold såsom sikkerhed.

Since 2005 The Copenhagen Municipality has marked the International Holocaust Remembrance Day (in Denmark it is named Auschwitz Day) with a special commemoration on January 27 th every year. The Danish Jewish Museum has been entrusted with the organization of this yearly commemoration on behalf of the Municipality of Copenhagen since 2017.
2025 will mark the 80th year of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp, one of the most notorious concentration camps established during World War II. On January 27, 1945, Soviet forces entered the camp, uncovering the harrowing realities of the Holocaust. This day marked a significant turning point, as the world began to comprehend the full extent of the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime. Remembering this event is crucial for several reasons, encompassing historical and educational imperatives.
The program this year includes testimonies, a keynote address from Ms. Solvej Berlau, speech by a minister of The Danish Government, Mr. Ambassador David Akov - Ambassador of Israel to Denmark, Mr. Ewa Debska - chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Denmark and Ms. Joëlle Jenny - Ambassador of Great Britain to Denmark.
