For the festival's grand finale, we invite everyone to experience the Afrobeat band REBEL WOMAN: featuring members from Spain and Denmark, draws inspiration from the eponymous album by the renowned Zimbabwean artist Chiwoniso.
The band includes Dany Levy and Zeque Olmo, a talented bass player and drummer with extensive experience in Afro-Cuban and Afro-funk music. They are joined by Beatriz Gijón, who plays the Mbira Nyunga Nyunga, an instrument she fell in love with during her travels in South Africa and Jens Peter Møller, awarded composer and musician known for his work with bands such as Addisabababand or Faratuben, adding to his expertise on guitar. Møller's extensive experience of African traditional music, gained through his travels in Mali, Ghana and his collaboration with West African master musicians, gives the group a deep, authentic tone.
Deeply inspired by the roots of this music and particularly focused on women artists of this repertoire, the trio transforms traditional mbira tunes into something fresh and personally groovy. Their funky background ensures that the audience can't help but move to a mix of polyrhythms and beautiful melodies.
AFTERWARDS an OPEN JAM SESSION focusing on free interdisciplinary improvisation. The celebration will conclude with a set by one of our top DJs, whose identity will be revealed on the day-ensuring there's no excuse not to light up the dancefloor.
