Kbhff community Cooking & Vegetable Order (#3)

The Community Cooking & Vegetable Order concept is built upon KBHFF's (Copenhagen Food Co-Op / Københavns Fødevarefællesskab, KBHFF.dk) farm-to-table vegetable orders.

We are certain you will want to join the co-op after you taste the quality of the produce, but you do not need to be a member to join this event. In fact, this is specifically intended for out-reach so please invite a friend! Both members and non-members are welcome. The event is held in English.
Details are below and the deadline for purchasing a ticket is Tuesday August 20th, 2024 at 23:59!!!
Link to join the mailing list and be the first to hear about future community cooking events.
The concept is simple:
1. You buy a ticket which covers both facilities and the cost of the vegetables
2. The vegetables will be delivered to the Copenhagen Hospitality College in Valby. (Vigerslev Allé 18, 2500 København). We will set up signs guiding you to kitchen C131 from the main entrance of the school.
3. We meet up at the school to cook together and enjoy the top-notch kitchens,
4. You can follow Alexander's meal-prep guidance, or not
5. You cook a week's worth of meals, trade tricks in the kitchen, and have fun
6. Everyone helps clean the space after themselves,
7. Everyone goes home with an entire week of cooked food for ready-to-heat meals!
We will have access to industrial kitchens at the school (Amazing!!!). Alexander will offer ideas for meal-prep and he will guide a group cook-off for those who like his ideas. We'll put on some music and cook for 3 hours. You are completely free to prepare any dish that interests you, to mutiny against Alexander and guide a rival group cook-off, or to bring any additional ingredients you would like to use.
Be sure to bring tupperware or jars to take your food home, and be ready to enjoy some gourmet home-cooked food for the following week! We will have plastic bags on-hand in case you forget containers
The Co-op is subsidizing part of the cost for the kitchen and cleaning staff, and also providing olive oil, butter, salt, pepper and plastic bags free of charge. To make this work, everyone is expected to clean up so we can be out of the space at 21:00 sharp.
SCHEDULE:
Deadline for purchasing a ticket: Tuesday, August 20th at 23:59!!!
For group cooking, please arrive as close to 17:00 as possible (Wednesday August 28th, 2024). Otherwise, join any time between 17:00-20:30.
17:00-17:10 Arrival
17:10-17:25 Instructions
17:30 - 20:30 Guided cooking (optional)
20:30-21:00 Clean-up (mandatory)
WHAT VEGETABLES WILL WE PREPARE!?
You get a bag of pre-selected vegetables with your order. We will not know the exact contents of the bag until after the ticket is purchased because the Co-Op works directly with Farmers on what is available 1 week in advance. However, here is ONE EXAMPLE of a TYPICAL bag from springtime
0.6 kg Red onion, Rønnely (from Birkemosegaard) (Eco/organic), retail price: DKK 24 / kg
0.8 kg Beetroot, Rønnely (from Birkemosegaard) (Eco/organic), retail price: DKK 16 / kg- 2 pieces of sliced garlic, from Svanholm (Öko), retail price: DKK 11 / piece- 1 bunch Mini-romaine + bronze fennel, from Svanholm (Öko), retail price: DKK 25 / piece- 0.2 kg Mushroom, brown, from Tvedemose (Eco), retail price: DKK 72 / kg- 0.15 kg Kejserhatte/Shii-take Mushroom, from Tvedemose (eco), retail price: DKK 177 / kg
No customization or editing of the contents of the vegetable bag is available for this event because it's a logistical nightmare. If you don't enjoy or eat any particular item, you'll have to get creative and trade or sell it to others at the event.
See you soon, and tell your friends!
Note: We cannot offer refunds after August 20th, as we must pre-order vegetables one week in advance.
