About the artists:
Aly Eissa & Ayman Asfour (EG)
The two prominent Egyptian musicians Aly Eissa (oud) and Ayman Asfour (violin) were artists in residence on Fanø Free Folk Festival in 2022. This year they return to the island with their new trio The Handover, but we're also happy to present an all acoustic duo performance in the magical space of Sønderho Church. Aly and Ayman first begin playing together in 2017 and since then, they have had the opportunity to play many live concerts together in Egypt and throughout Europe. Despite coming from two different generations, the two musicians share a mutual passion for classical Arabic and Egyptian folk music. At the same time, they both enjoy experimenting with contemporary approaches to improvisation and creating sounds. This special dialogue is demonstrated on their forthcoming album "Eissa to Asfour", which will be released on Feral Note. A celebration of a special musical bond that you can look forward to experience live in Sønderho.

Drömmarnas Consort (SE)
In the ensemble Drömmarnas Consort, five gifted musicians join forces to reimagine the European consort music of the 17th Century in a contemporary setting. With backgrounds in jazz, rock, free improv and baroque music, to mention but a few genres, the musicians create a dialogue between old traditions, experimental approaches and improvisation, using instruments such as viola da gamba, hardanger fiddle and double bass and creating a polyphonic patchwork of old melodies and new compositions.
