The sea is a treasure trove of surprising finds from the past. In the DokuLab, the whole family can immerse themselves in the work of the maritime archaeologists and even get close to the exciting finds that hide stories about life thous
Watch the archaeologists uncover traces of our shared history
You can get up close with the archaeologists as they examine the old finds. On weekdays, the workshop has been transformed into the archaeologists' workplace, and you can come in and follow their work.
Usually, only a few people get up close to the fragile finds from the seabed, but unlike the actual excavation work, it is possible to get up close to the exciting archaeological process of analysing and documenting the many ship parts.
Visitors will have a unique opportunity to gain insight into the archaeologists' work and experience first-hand how new traces of our shared history are revealed.
The goal of documentation work is to uncover even the smallest details on the ships. The microscopic traces can reveal new knowledge about how the ships were once built and used.
Opening hours in the Maritime Archaeologists' Workshop:
The Maritime Archaeologists' Workshop is open to the public
Every day 10.00 - 15.30
Archaeologists work in the documentation workshop
All weekdays 10 am - 3.30 pm
Please note that there may be short-term closures due to the handling of large ship parts.
