Performance - Jossette Reilley - Rhythmic
Teaterhuset Bastionen, kl. 12-12.45.
Rhythmic Compositions and Conversations. Choreographer: Jossette Reilly. DOORS: 11:30. STARTS: 12:00. LUNCH: 12.45. CURFEW: 13:30. About the performance.
Rhythmic Compositions and Conversations is a version from 2023 CompasCompositionConversation performance in EarEye Fest. The idea was born with three flamenco female artists that came together around a table, conversing through rhythm. An informal performance that intends to shed the stage layers off flamenco and invites to experience the improvisational and social essence of the art form. It's a meeting between tradition and exploration, and between women with different cultures finding themselves submerged with the world of flamenco.
In CompasCompositionConversations artists Phyllis Akinyi and Jossette Reilly gathered with
flamenco guitarist Afra Rubino to share their experiences and views of flamenco rhythms. They all share the years spent in Madrid working with flamenco yet have very different expressions. For this special edition of Malmö Dance Week both Afra Rubino and Jossette Reilly will now share their flamenco rhythm and exchange knowledge with guest artist choreographer and performer Alma Söderberg whom began her career years training with flamenco in Madrid. Looking at what binds them together and how they each work or relate to rhythm, traditionally and experimentally is at the core of this performance.

Performance - Alma Söderberg - New Old
Teaterhuset Bastionen, kl. 12-12.45.
New old. Choreographer: Alma Söderberg. DOORS: 11:30. STARTS: 12:00. LUNCH: 12.45. CURFEW: 13:30.
New Old is a solo performance going back to the origins of Alma Söderberg's practice - sitting on a chair and thinking through rhythm, voice and movement. A practice of listening to sounds synthesising; forming words with the help of hand and body gestures, creating thoughts, evolving into sounds again, becoming
music, becoming dance, becoming thought that once again becomes dance.
About the performance
New Old is rather personal. It is on the verge, if not already wayover the edge, to something private. Meandering between topicssuch as the fear of peeing oneself, the mouth-like quality of the vulva, the phenomenologically fascinating thing of being two people at once for a while, as well as how musical the word & quot;pussy" is in different languages, and the consequences thereof. New Old moves in and out of internal and external spaces, shoots through the roof with vectors of high hissing sounds, landing in
melodic phrases and floating just above the heads of its audience.
ABOUT Alma Söderberg
Alma Söderberg is a choreographer and performer that works with music and dance. She uses her voice and body to play space as if it was an instrument. Her ongoing research deals with how we listen as we look; the relation between the ear and the eye. She has grounded her practice in a number of solo performances in which she developed an idiorhythmic way of creating. In the two ongoing music projects wowawiwa and John the Houseband, she has worked in collaboration with the other artists Anja Muller, Dennis
Deter, Hendrik Willekens, Roger Sala Reyner and Melkorka Sigridur Magnusdottir. In all her works she collaborates closely with the
sound artist Hendrik Willekens. Alma Söderberg has won the Thalia Prize and has been granted the Cullberg scholarship.
